Why scaffolding inspection and tagging is important?
Ensuring the safety and integrity of scaffolding is paramount for any construction project. Proper inspection and tagging can make all the difference in preventing accidents and maintaining a safe working environment.
Inspection implies inspection of scaffold supplies and strength of scaffold.
Tagging indicates whether a scaffols can be used.
Inspection
Scaffold components are to be inspected by trained personnel on upon of receipt. In case of defective components found,either they can be returned or can be tagged as "do not use" or can be destroyed.
Once the scaffold is erected, it is important that itis inspected at regulae intervals for ensuring safety while using it.
Inspcetion of scaffolds shall be carried out:
- Weekly while the scaffold in use.
- After each structurak alteration or addition.
- Monthly while the scaffold is set up but not in use.
- After any strom or occurrence that could adversely affect the safety of the scaffold.
Tagging
Tagging of scaffold helps in identifying whter a scaffold has been inspected and is it safe for usage.
It also indicates the type of scaffold and precaution to be follow while working.
Commonly used tags:
- Green Tag :- It indicated that scaffolding is fully erected.
- Red Tag :- This tag indicated thet the scaffold isünsafe"and it must not be used.
- Yellow Tag:- This tag means use caution and get approval from the competent person before accessing the scaffold.
