Precautions during handling & cleaning of Stainless-steel material at jobsite.

There are two problems reported from the field for stainless steel Door panels, Frames, CAR, LIOP & LIP face plates.

1. Problem number one – Stains & sticky material remains on the panel after the removal of the PVC sheath used forcovering the SS. 
2. Problem number two – The SS door panels, Frames, CAR, LIOP & LIP face plates get red rust/corrosion marks, this is caused by long storage under dump conditions and/or due to chemical & cement slurry used during construction. To bring the harmonization of the cleaning process.

Basic Safety Guidelines

1. Ensure that you are in possession of all PPE’s
2. Keep all PPE’s clean and in good condition. If equipment is faulty replace it immediately.
3. Clear warning signs must be installed in any place where a potential hazard exists in the working area. Labelling should be in accordance to local standards
4. Follow the MSDS while handling chemicals.

Procedure – 1 for stain mark removal due to PVC film and glue.

1. All required material will be sourced locally by field from any local market.

2. Process of cleaning described as below

• To remove SS stain mark take remover & plain banian type cotton cloth.
• Make baking soda like paste, mix required quantity of water in baking soda (it should like paste)
• Apply paste form baking soda on SS material, paste application should be hair line direction of panel.
• After pasting wait for 5-8 minutes
• Take plain banian type wet cloth and start cleaning of pasted baking soda from SS sheet direction of cleaning should be hair line direction.
• Take plain banian type dry cloth and start cleaning of SS sheets, cleaning should be hair line direction.

Procedure – 2 for rust mark due to cement / chemical used for architrave work and for stain mark removal due to PVC film and glue.

• Take small quantity of the Diversey Emeral Plus Multi-Surface Cream Cleanser on clean, soft cotton cloth.
• Apply it on the stained SS materials vertically (top to bottom) and keep it for 5 mins.
• Take dry soft cotton cloth, clean the panels vertically (top to bottom) as per grit marks
• Clean completely with wet cloths. After completing dry of the panel, if necessary, apply jasmine coconut oil mildly

Procedure – 3 as an alternate solution for procedure 2.

If identifies issue related to SS panels for rust, following actions shall be carried out on affected panels at site. All the material/tools (listed at sr no: 5, Procedure-3) for cleaning / rust removal to be sourced locally by branch from any 3M dealer / local market.

• Spray sloution on affected area
• Rub with scotchbrite till removal of rust marks, ensure at the time of wiping there should not be any scratch occur on the panels.
• Wipe off with antistatic multipurpose cloth.
• Spray cleaner and polishing solution on affected area.
• Wipe off with cloth.
