PPE : Insulated Gloves

Tool Box Talk

Insulated Gloves

Electricity is a serious workplace hazard, exposing employees to such dangers as life-threatening electric shock and electrical burns.

Personal protective equipment can provide an important line of defense when exposed to electrical hazards.

  1. Always wear insulated rubber gloves (with canvas or leather outer gloves) when working with high voltage equipment.
  2. Verify that gloves are of the maximum voltage rating for the job.
  3. Wear gloves under leather gloves to prevent punctures.
  4. Make sure gloves fit snugly.
  5. Inspect gloves daily for holes, tears, punctures, cuts, texture changes, embedded objects etc. If gloves are damaged, do not use them.
Maintain insulated gloves in a safe, reliable condition. Verify that they are periodically inspected and tested as required organization and local illegal requirement
